Students from low income backgrounds and those with an Access UCL offer will be eligible to receive an Accommodation Bursary for 2024/25 entry.
Eligibility
Candidates must:
- have accepted UCL as their firm or insurance choice university* and;
- have applied for a place in UCL Accommodation
*UCL prioritises accommodation for students who accept UCL as their firm choice. Applicants who are holding an insurance offer with UCL will be eligible for the UCL Accommodation bursary, but they will only be able to apply for accommodation if/when they firmly accept their offer.
Value, benefits, and duration
The bursary will be paid in the form of a deduction of the bursary amount from your Term 1 accommodation invoice. The deduction will be made in your first year ONLY (2024/25) at the following rates:
Amount | |
---|---|
Holder of Access UCL offer | £535 |
In receipt of the UCL Undergraduate Bursary (from a household income of £42,875 or less) | £1070 |
Holder of both Access UCL offer and UCL Undergraduate Bursary | £1605 |
Selection
All students in receipt of the UCL Undergraduate Bursary or an Access UCL offer who have met the eligibility requirements will automatically receive a bursary. Please note: the bursary is only credited to your accommodation account in the first year of study and not eligible for any corresponding years.
How to apply
You do not need to complete an application form. Provided that you have completed the steps above, you will be automatically assessed for an award.
If you hold an insurance offer which becomes firm after the deadline stated above, you will be eligible for the bursary if you are able to secure accommodation at UCL at a later stage.
Notification
Confirmation of your bursary will be emailed to you by end of September (or later in the term if your household income has yet to be assessed by Student Finance).
