The Ernest Hecht Charitable Foundation Scholarship

The Ernest Hecht Charitable Foundation Scholarship aims to provide scholarships to enable UK domiciled students to pursue an undergraduate degree at UCL.

Selection criteria: Financial need and disadvantaged backgrounds
Eligible students: UK domiciled with Home fee status
Eligible programmes: All Undergraduate programmes

Eligibility

Eligible candidates must:

  • be domiciled in the UK with Home fee status;
  • be from a disadvantaged background;
  • hold an offer of admission to UCL to study a full-time undergraduate degree for the 2023/24 intake.

Value, benefits, and duration

The award provides £15,000 per year for a three year undergraduate programme and is subject to satisfactory academic progress. The award can be applied to cover tuition fees or maintenance costs depending on the awardee's preference.

If a student on a four year undergraduate programme receives this award, payments will be made pro rata, i.e. they will receive £11,250 for each of their four years of study.

One award is available per year.


Selection

The criterion for awarding the bursary is financial need and you will need to demonstrate this in the application.


How to apply

The Ernest Hecht Charitable Foundation Scholarship is one of the schemes that make up the Undergraduate Funding and Access Awards (UGFA).

Results

The UGFAs will be awarded by recommendation by a panel composed of UCL staff. The successful candidates will be notified as soon as decisions are made by mid-September.
