The Baxter Healthcare Scholarship aims to provide scholarships to enable UK students to pursue an undergraduate degree in Engineering at UCL.
Eligibility
Eligible candidates must:
- be domiciled in the UK with Home fee status;
- be in financial need as assessed by UCL;
- be of Black-African or Black-Caribbean descent
- hold an offer of admission to UCL to study a full-time undergraduate degree in the Faculty of Engineering Sciences for the 2024/25 intake.
Value, benefits, and duration
The award provides £25,000 per year for a three year undergraduate programme and is subject to satisfactory academic progress. The award will be applied to cover tuition fees first and the rest will be paid as maintenance allowance.
If a student on a four year undergraduate programme receives this award, payments will be made pro rata, i.e. they will receive £18,750 for each of their four years of study.
The successful awardee will also be offered the opportunity to undertake an unpaid internship at Baxter Healthcare and/or participate in a mentoring scheme.
One award is available per year.
Selection
The criterion for awarding the bursary is financial need and you will need to demonstrate this in the application.
How to apply
The Baxter Healthcare Scholarship is one of the schemes that make up the Undergraduate Funding and Access Awards (UGFA).

Results
The UGFAs will be awarded by recommendation by a panel composed of UCL staff. The successful candidates will be notified as soon as decisions are made by mid-September.
