UCL Research

Office of the UCL Vice-Provost (Research, Innovation & Global Engagement)

The new Office of the UCL Vice-Provost (Research, Innovation & Global Engagement) – RIGE – brings together a range of functions, services and resources for the UCL community and external partners. We are dedicated to supporting people, crossing boundaries and enabling responsible impact – for the greater good, locally, nationally and internationally.

UCL was established in 1826 in order to open up education in England for the first time to students of any race, class or religion. The founding principles of academic excellence and research aimed at addressing real-world problems continue to inform our ethos to this day.

UCL is a world-leading research university, and we are proud to be London’s leading multidisciplinary university, with over 6,000 academic and research staff committed to engaging with the wider world and changing it for the better. This new office will improve the ways we facilitate and promote the public benefit generated by our academics and researchers, as well as our collective institutional impact on the world.

Changing the world

UCL is committed to using our collective expertise to address global problems. We’re working to extend our knowledge of the local, national and global, and increase the grassroots relevance of our work. We’re developing partnerships within and beyond the education sector to inform the work we do and increase our positive impact on the world around us.
