About UCL Research, Innovation & Global Engagement (RIGE)

UCL Research, Innovation and Global Engagement (RIGE) – led by Professor Geraint Rees – seeks to maximise the beneficial economic, cultural and social impact of research and innovation at UCL.

Our Research support teams within RIGE:

  • are responsible for UCL’s participation in the Research Excellence Framework (REF)
  • ensure that research complies with our research ethics and integrity guidance
  • coordinate large-scale funding bids through our research coordination teams
  • ensure, through the UCL Doctoral School, that the quality of research training at UCL is at the highest possible standard
  • enable researchers to maximise the beneficial impact of their work
  • lead on a number of cross-institutional initiatives to foster cross-disciplinary collaboration, including the UCL Grand Challenges and Research Domains
  • facilitate academic collaboration with policymakers through the UCL Public Policy programme. 

In addition to our research support teams, RIGE also includes our teams in Global EngagementInnovation & Enterprise, UCL Consultants, and our commercialisation company UCL Business.
