Professor Ian Crawford (Birkbeck, University of London, and UCL/Birkbeck Centre for Planetary Sciences Board member) has been awarded the 2021 Royal Astronomical Society's Service Award for Geophysics. The citation highlights Professor Crawford's leading and long-standing role in the promotion of lunar science and human space exploration and other contributions to the planetary science community over the last twenty years, including his role as a mentor for young planetary scientists and for establishing and running the highly successful APEX Astrobiology and Planetary Exploration seminar series.  The full citation can be read here.

The announcements were made at the Ordinary Meeting of the Society held on Friday 8 January. The winners will be invited to collect their awards at the RAS National Astronomy Meeting in July. We warmly congratulate Ian on this prestigious and well-deserved award!
