Dr Ingo Waldmann promoted to Associate Professor
21 September 2020
The Centre for Planetary Sciences congratulates board member Ingo Waldmann on his recent promotion to Associate Professor in Physics and Astronomy at UCL.
We are thrilled to congratulate CPS board member Ingo Waldmann on his recent promotion to Associate Professor in Physics and Astronomy, within the Faculty of Mathematical & Physical Sciences at UCL.
Dr Ingo Waldmann was appointed as a Senior Research Fellow in the UCL Astrophysics Group in 2014 and to a Lectureship in 2018. In 2019, he was honoured with the Royal Astronomical Society Fowler Award in Geophysics for his role in the vanguard of developing the statistical theory of exoplanet observations and their interpretation. Ingo is the PI of the European Research Council starting grant 'ExoAI', specialising in machine and deep learning solutions for the observation and characterisation of astronomical exoplanet data. He is also deputy director of the UCL Centre for Space Exochemistry Data (CSED) where he focusses on knowledge exchange in machine and deep learning from the purely academic to space and satellite industrial applications. Ingo has recently co-founded SpaceFlux Ltd, a company focusing on global robotic telescope networks and AI in astronomical data stream analysis. Somehow, he also finds time for the role of Course Tutor for our MSc in Planetary Science and to serve on the CPS Board, for which we are very grateful. Congratulations, Ingo!
