Dr Jenny Cowan (Wellcome Trust Henry Dale Fellow) is a junior PI in the Institute of Immunity and Transplantation at University College London as a Wellcome Trust Sir Henry Dale Fellow, focusing on T-cell development. After studying the thymus as a PhD student in the laboratory of Professor Graham Anderson at the University of Birmingham, Jennifer continued to study T-cell development as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the National Institutes of Health, USA, in the laboratory of Professor Avinash Bhandoola, before returning to the UK to establish an independent lab. At this event Jennifer can offer insight into life as a Post-Doc outside the UK and potential tips on how to apply for independent fellowships and how to choose a good sponsor institute.

Dr Elizabeth Rosser (Lizzy) (Kennedy Trust Senior Research Fellow) is a new, junior PI in the UCL Division of Medicine investigating how metabolites from the gut-microbiota condition B cell function in paediatric and adolescent-onset rheumatic disease. She is a ‘UCL lifer’ having started her BSc in Immunology at UCL nearly 17 years ago and now holds her Senior Fellowship in the same building she conducted her PhD. At this event, Lizzy will offer insights into her journey at UCL and the top ‘tips and tricks’ she’s learnt from applying for 6 fellowships from UCL…. 50% of which were successful!
