About the event:
As an early career researcher you will have read, if not contributed to journal articles. However, have you considered a career on the other side of science publishing, on the editorial team? In November’s research culture seminar, Dr Anika Knüppel will provide her perspectives on being a senior editor at Lancet Public Health and share her journey from academia to the world of science publishing.
Anika Knüppel started her research journey in the UK with the opportunity to pursue a PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health from UCL. After her PhD she worked as a postdoctoral researcher for 4 years in the areas of nutritional and cancer epidemiology at the University of Oxford and the epidemiology of Long Covid-19 at UCL. In autumn of 2022 she decided to leave academia to join The Lancet Public Health as a Senior Editor. At this event Anika can offer insight into the Editor role (at The Lancet group), the decision process of pursuing an "alternative" career in the research field, and what skills and steps from her time as researcher have helped her in the transition.
Join us at the Rayne Building 2nd Floor Seminar Room. Light refreshments will be provided.
