Having been in general dental practice for 40 years, I became involved in academic practice by teaching on a restorative programme at UCL Eastman Dental Institute, London, UK. This lead to the completion of my PhD into the impact of postgraduate dental education on GDPs, which has enabled me to become Director of the Restorative Dental Practice programme, whilst supervising all our MSc student research projects.

I run the 3 year part time Sports Dentistry-Oral Health in Sport Master’s degree programme which helps GDPs to care for elite and amateur athletes and about their specific dental challenges. I am the author of Sports Dentistry-Principles and Practice, which was first published in 2019.

I have recently been awarded the Senior Fellowship by the Higher Education Authority and been made a Fellow in General Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
