UCLMS student, Kwame Asante, wins the prestigious Chortle Student Comedy Award

6 September 2012

Kwame Asante…

UCL Medical Student, Kwame Asante, won the prestigious Chortle Student Comedy Award 2012 at this year's Edinburgh Festival.

The MBBS Year 4 student took home the £2,500 first prize – plus the valuable kudos the title gives to young comics.

Kwame commented "Stand-up comedy has always been a passion of mine, which I have enjoyed watching for as long as I can remember. I have been performing it myself now for 2 years now, mainly around the London comedy circuit, but in recent times I have been lucky to venture as far as Oxford, Coventry and Edinburgh for gigs! Winning the Student Comedy Award means an awful lot to me. The competition was very tight, and I was surrounded by incredibly talented acts. I feel blessed to have come out on top on the night, and would like to thank my friends and family for all their support."
