UCLMS Student EDI Committee

UCLMS Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Student Committee aims to foster a positive cultural climate where all students can flourish

UCLMS Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Student Committee aims to foster a positive cultural climate where all students can flourish, where no one will feel compelled to conceal or play down elements of their identity for fear of stigma. Our aim is to ensure UCL Medical School will be a place where people can be authentic and their unique perspectives, experiences and skills are seen as a valuable asset to the institution.

The structure of the student body mirrors that of the staff body, and the respective subgroups work collaboratively.

Our existing subgroups are Race, Ethnicity and Heritage; Faith and Religion; Disability, Mental Health and Wellbeing; Gender Equality and LGBTQ+.

Our committee is composed of hard-working student volunteers dedicated to our mission. We will be releasing a regular newsletter with updates about our current projects which you can sign up for.

The Student EDI Committee aims to represent the needs of UCLMS’ student body, so we would welcome any ideas, concerns or questions at medsch.studentedi@ucl.ac.uk.

We also have a UCLMS EDI Moodle site.  Here you can keep up to date with all the latest activities and events by our subcommittees, access resources collated by all our members, meet the members of all our subcommittees and so much more.

Microaggressions Posters

A subgroup of the EDI committee has developed these posters, using a ChangeMakers grant, to raise awareness of microaggressions.

Along with these digital copies, the group has disseminated physical posters throughout UCL hospitals with the aim to increase recognition of what microaggressions are and that there is a need to tackle them - in clinical environments and beyond.
