Take bold action for inclusion

In alignment with our MAPS EDI Strategic plan, we are opening the first ever MAPS EDI Funding Call “Take bold action for inclusion.” The aim is to provide support to EDI initiatives that focus on developing or strengthening inclusive environments for staff or students in the Faculty. Depending on the availability of funding, we are planning to fund 7 projects for up to £3,000 each. The projects should address inclusivity regarding, but not limited to, disability, the LGBTQ+ community, gender, race and ethnicity, religion or belief, or socio-economic background.

Application deadline: Friday 9 December 2022 by 5pm
Funding period: 19 December 2022 to 31 July 2023. 
Funding decision will be communicated by 16 December 2022

Who can apply?

The lead applicant must be a member of staff or PhD student, but the project may be done in collaboration with undergraduate, postgraduate taught and/or research graduate students. We would like to encourage applications from departmental EDI-related networks, departmental EDI committees, and any individual member of staff passionate about taking bold action for inclusion.

Assessment

A Faculty panel will assess the proposals. All applications should clearly show that the proposed project:

  • is relevant to MAPS EDI Strategy 2019-2022,
  • will be completed within the funding period (19 December 2022 to 31 July 2023),
  • has a clearly defined target audience, and
  • has a clearly defined intended impact.

We encourage you to submit projects that foster collaboration between departments or institutes in the Faculty. Successful applicants will need to provide a narrative project report and a financial report of expenditure against budget by 31 July 2023.

    MAPS EDI Lunch Hour Conversations Programme 2023

    We are happy to share the MAPS EDI Lunch Hour Conversations Programme for 2023. The conversations are online via Zoom and are open to both staff and students, both within the faculty and to those who may be interested in any of your networks.  

    The MAPS EDI Lunch Hour Conversations invite speakers who have gained knowledge from their research and/or personal experience in addressing barriers and challenges faced by disability, ethnicity, sexuality, gender and social class.
