Each year we ask all BEAMS staff to think about the PS staff members whose efforts deserve to be recognised with an award and take the time to nominate them.

About the event
Join us for the BEAMS Professional Services Awards 2024, a celebration of excellence in the professional services across BEAMS. This in-person event will take place on Wednesday 19th June 2024, 15.00 – 17.00 at The Bartlett School of Architecture, 22 Gordon Street (Room 6.02).
Our awards ceremony will recognise outstanding individuals and teams who have made significant contributions to UCL over the past year.
Attendees can expect an exciting afternoon filled with networking opportunities, nibbles and of course, the announcement of the winners.

- Nominations
Who can be nominated?
Any professional services staff member (administrative and technical) based in BEAMS (The Bartlett, Faculty of Engineering Sciences, Faculty of Maths and Physical Sciences).
We encourage nominations for all grades and of all grades.
Individuals can be nominated more than once and for different categories.Nominations must be submitted by 5pm on Wednesday 15th May 2024.
The nomination form is designed to gather information about why the nominee should be considered for an award.
Who can nominate?
Nominations can be made by any UCL staff member based within BEAMS, including Business Partners. We encourage nominations by all grades and for all grades.
How to nominate
Nominators will need to complete a nomination form that requests examples of how the individual’s (or team) contribution is outstanding and goes beyond their normal role.
Nominations should focus on the outcomes achieved and how this benefits UCL. Awards will be made primarily for work carried out, or coming to fruition, over the past eighteen months.
We strongly suggest you read the guidance notes before completing the nomination via Microsoft Forms.
Nominations must be submitted by 5pm on Wednesday 15th May 2024.
Award categories
There are eight award categories based on the key enablers for UCL 2034 and the strategic priorities identified in the UCL Strategic Plan 2022-27.
All staff at UCL are contributing to these enablers in some way and we want to celebrate the vital work that individual professional services staff do to realise UCL’s vision and mission.
1. Giving our students the best support, facilities and opportunities
2. Valuing our staff and improving the overall staff experience
3. Delivering on equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives
4. Financing our ambitions
5. Delivering excellent systems and processes in support of UCL’s vision
6. Maintaining a sustainable estate to meet our aspirations
7. Communicating and engaging effectively with the world
8. Outstanding team contribution to achieving UCL’s mission
Prizes
The prize for each individual category is a £500 gift card and a £50 gift card for runners up, and a £1000 gift card for the winners and £100 gift card for the runners up of the team category.
Judges
Each year a panel of judges, which includes a Director of Operations, Faculty Tutor, senior technical role holder, senior central professional services role holder, professional services staff member and student representative, review the submissions and meet to allocate the awards.

Judges will make their decisions based solely on the information in the form. Assessing against:
• The extent to which individuals (or teams) excel or go beyond what is expected of their role.
• The outcomes achieved and how this benefits UCL
• Whether the individuals (or teams) have initiated the work themselves.
• The impact of the activities described and how support the UCL 2034 Key Enablers.
