Accessibility and using captions in a meeting

Zoom has the capability for both auto and manual captioning, where a text version of the meeting dialogue is broadcast to the meeting attendees.

Captions are shown in real time so that anyone who is not able to hear the meeting audio can join in with the meeting. This could be useful in the following situations:

• for a participant of the meeting who is hearing impaired
• for a participant who is less proficient in the language that the meeting is being held in
• for participants who are in places with a large amount of background noise and/or do not have a headset.

Both automatic and manual transcription is available.

Please note that integration with 3rd party captioning tools is not supported.
