
Our Clinical Services
The MDC clinical members offer a multi-disciplinary movement disorders services across UCL-affiliated hospitals: University College London Hospital (UCLH) and The Royal Free Hospital (RFH).
The movement disorders clinical group offers specialized assessment, diagnosis and treatment across a range of conditions, including:
- Parkinson’s Disease
- Atypical Parkinsonism, including Multiple system atrophy (MSA), Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), cortico-basal degeneration (CBD) and other related conditions.
- Dystonia
- Tremor
- Myoclonus and tics
- Chorea
- Gait and balance disorders
We offer regular weekly out-patient clinics led by consultant neurologists specialising in movement disorders, as well as clinics led by our team of nurse specialists. Our clinicians are supported by the neurosciences team and the speech and language team.
We also offer a number of specialized services including apomorphine therapy and botulinum toxin.
Our group is a leader in surgical treatment of movement disorders, particularly Parkinson’s disease, dystonia and essential tremor, and we provide the UK’s largest DBS service. We offer a weekly multidisciplinary clinic for evaluation of patients with movement disorders in view of Deep Brain Stimulation and other surgical treatment options.
Our clinical centres are part of the UK Parkinson’s Excellence Network and consultant Professor Anette Schrag is the lead for north London.

Courses, programmes and support networks
- First Steps (Parkinson's UK) is a 2-day programme designed for people recently diagnosed with Parkinson's, and their families or carers.
- Self-management programme (Parkinson’s UK) is a programme designed for people with Parkinson’s, partners and carer’s to share their experiences. This programme is free and running all across the UK. Attendees are welcome to attend a local group or an online session but you will need to book your place in advance.
- Side by Side is led by Parkinson’s UK which aims to bring carer’s and professionals together. "It's an opportunity for carer’s to learn more about the professional help, drugs, benefits and support available.”
