Research

The Ataxia Centre leads a range of cutting-edge research encompassing clinical, molecular, physiological and therapeutic aspects of the ataxias. Our aim is to derive new insights into basic biology, aetiology and clinical care of movement disorders and to translate this knowledge into the development of new treatments. The team runs key biomedical and clinical research projects on the ataxias, with the ultimate goal to find new treatments for patients. Our centres participates in many of the principal international clinical and basic science research consortia, and some of the most significant interventional (drug/therapy) trials in ataxia.
