User Survey 2011: Questions

The survey asked seven questions, plus a question asking each respondent to choose a 'user type'. The first four questions were mandatory, and the following three questions were optional, giving respondents a chance to write in more detail about the library services, giving examples of things they like or things they would like to change, and to make general comments about library services.

Q1. How often do you use the following library resources?

We asked respondents to indicate the frequency of use for each resource using the following options: more than weekly; weekly; monthly; occasionally; never.

  • Study spaces (desks)
  • Books    
  • Print journals    
  • UCL electronic journals via library PCs    
  • UCL electronic journals remotely (e.g. at home)    
  • NHS Athens journals via library PCs    
  • NHS Athens journals remotely (e.g. at home)

Q2. How satisfied are you with the services currently offered?

We asked respondents to select their level of satisfaction using the following options: excellent; good; satisfactory; needs improvement (or 'not applicable' if a service had not been used by the respondent).

We asked respondents to select up to three options

  • IT equipment

  • Inter-library loan service (books and articles from other libraries)
  • Literature searching services
  • Providing a quiet study space
  • Training sessions (for help using databases etc)
  • One-to-one research support
  • Social networking (e.g. the library on facebook, twitter etc)
  • Patient information resources
  • Other (this gave respondents an option to suggest their own priority area)

Q4. How do you rate the Library service overall?

We asked respondents to grade the Library Service on a scale ranging from 'excellent' to 'needs improvement'
