Can you give us an overview of your current position and explain what was your career path to this role?

I have worked as a Research Technician in the Selina Wray laboratory for the last 7 year. I have worked on several projects through the years, and I also manage the day-to-day laboratory operation. Prior to that I pursued my postgraduate education in Neuroscience and later in Ocular Biology and I worked for a couple of years in a coffee shop.

Can you tell us about a piece of work that you are particularly proud of?

I am proud for teaching/supervising young scientists and see them developing into independent and strong scientists.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

“You are very young to take the world and life so seriously”

Who is a female role model to you? Why?

My mother. I learnt from her to be hardworking, fair, and kind to others.

Do you feel you have a good work / life balance? Why?

More experience, confidence and independence in the lab and my abilities at work have helped me to reach a good work/life balance.

What is your favourite thing to do in your spare time?

Reading poetry/fiction and listening to music.
