The Student Choice Awards give students the chance to thank members of staff who have inspired and supported them during their time at UCL, letting these staff members know that their hard work makes a difference.

IOE academics have been shortlisted in four of the eight categories available along with staff members from across the University.

Angela Cooper (UCL Centre for Languages & International Education) has been nominated for Excellent Personal Tutoring. Chris Yates (Department of Education, Practice and Society) and Dr Keri Wong (Department of Psychology and Human Development) have both been shortlisted for Exceptional Feedback, and Dr Caine Rolleston (Department of Education, Practice and Society) has been nominated for Inspiring Teaching Delivery.

Every nominee in the Outstanding Research Supervision category is from the IOE, with students nominating Dr Jennie Golding (Department of Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment), Dr Karen Edge (Department of Learning and Leadership), and Professor Kaśka Porayska-Pomsta (Department of Culture, Communication and Media) for the award.

The nominees were chosen from a long list of 1267 nominations covering over 700 individual members of staff. There were 161 IOE staff nominations by students.

In addition to the Student Choice Awards, numerous IOE academics have received UCL Education Awards for their outstanding contributions to the learning experience and success of UCL students.

Over a week-long period, beginning on Wednesday 10 June, winners of both the Student Choice Awards and UCL Provost's Education Awards will be announced in a virtual exhibition.

Additionally, 21 IOE academic representatives have been nominated for UCL’s Academic Rep of the Year awards. These awards celebrate those reps who went the extra mile to represent students, and have worked with staff to make student’s academic experience better.

IOE nominees are: Chun-Yuan Hu, Clare Barclay, Constance Iloghalu, David Ruttenberg, Eleanor Booth, Faisal Ali, Fotini Diamantidaki, Haiying Liang, Kafi Zafar, Katherine Riding, Kitty Cooke, Linda Larbi, Lloyd Hendon-John, Longlin Niu, Lydia Shacklock & Hee-Eon Na, Ping Zhu, Reiko Naka, Sally Swift (Wightman), Xianda He, Yang Shen.
