The world of research is highly innovative but also very competitive. Researchers must not only be able to conduct pioneering work, they have to convince funders to give them the hard cash needed to enable them to do it. Who can persuade us that their research is the most vital?
We are joined by scientists from the Wellcome / EPSRC Centre for Interventional and Surgical Sciences (WEISS) at UCL for a competitive game that illustrates the sometimes cut-throat world of research while allowing them a chance to share stories of their pioneering research. Each will have only 1 minute to convince us that their research is the most essential before our judges cast one of them out of the competition. The process will then repeat until only one researcher emerges victorious. Along the way we will learn about state-of-the-art science that may one help day save lives.
