Enabling all staff to achieve a good work life balance is a key priority at UCL.
At UCL we offer 27 days of annual leave plus six closure days (at Christmas and Easter) as well as statutory holidays.
Work Life Balance
We also facilitate flexible working such as flexitime, annualised hours, term-time working, shift working, staggered hours, job share/job splitting, part-time working, compressed hours, career breaks and planned remote working. See the work-life balance policy and UCL closure days for more information.
To further enhance work life balance employees are eligible to request to purchase up to an additional 5 days of annual leave per year (pro-rated for part time staff) which can be repaid via salary over a 10 month period. See the Additional Leave Purchasing Scheme (ALPS) for details.
Following staff feedback, we are currently operating a pilot hybrid working model which requires staff whose roles lend themselves to homeworking, to be based on campus for at least 40% of their time. UCL continues to listen to its staff on this important issue. These working arrangements continue to be subject to review and may change in the future. Please see our current remote working pilot policy and guidance.
