Engagement Delivery Group

The IHE Engagement Delivery Group drives our engagement and co-creation activities. We span the definition of engagement – from working with the end-users of our technologies, through to engaging with policy-makers to enact real-world change.

Research doesn’t take place in a vacuum and engagement with stakeholders outside of higher education is how we ensure our work is prioritised, developed and designed with impact and translation at the forefront. We’re equipping the IHE community with the skills and knowledge they need to develop a strategic approach to engagement.

  • In October 2020, we launched our Impact Fellowship Scheme – training early-career researchers in all things engagement and impact
  • We work closely with the UCL Policy Impact Unit to design activities that have real impact
  • Our long-term vision is to embed engagement in UCL's appraisal and promotion processes

A breathing aid that can help keep Covid-19 patients out of intensive care, adapted by our engineers at UCL and clinicians at UCLH working with Mercedes-AMG HPP, is now being used in over 150 NHS hospitals. The designs have been made freely available for international use and have now been downloaded by over 1900 teams in 105 countries - we are now supporting these teams to manufacture locally.
