Our researchers are working at the forefront of advances in healthcare engineering, pushing the boundaries in areas where cutting-edge engineering innovation has the potential to transform patient care.
UCL healthcare engineers, UCLH and Formula 1 develop life-saving breathing aids for NHS
A breathing aid that can help keep Covid-19 patients out of intensive care, adapted by our engineers at UCL and clinicians at UCLH working with Mercedes-AMG HPP, has been approved for use in the NHS. The government have ordered 10,000 which are now being used across NHS hospitals. The designs have been made freely available for international use and have now been downloaded by 1800 teams in 105 countries - we are now supporting these teams to manufacture locally.
