Our partners in the cardiovascular workstream include some of the UK’s leading cardiovascular research groups, with specific expertise at the interface between primary and secondary care. Resources include:
- The largest cardiac imaging centre in Europe (estimated 10,000 cardiac magnetic resonance scans per year), with an integrated cardiovascular hospital records platform spanning cardiac data, general trust-level systems, radiology, and omics systems for 25,000 patients.
- Primary care electronic health records in the associated geographically defined population base (1 m), with unique, scalable linkages (EMIS data, with small area census variables) with real-time interaction with commissioners and clinicians, including risk prediction models, to support decision making and organisational change.
- National disease and procedure registries (over 2 m patient records, NICOR, UCL): these are currently the only scaled way of accessing clinical data (beyond ICD or procedure codes) out of hospitals.
