The Institute of Health Informatics (IHI) welcomes special guest speaker, Dr Tyler Williamson, for his talk titled: AI, Informatics, and the Industrial Revolution: Applications in Electronic Medical Records.
Artificial intelligence (AI) has had, and continues to have, a profound impact on society. Fueled by advances in computing, these transformative changes have been called the 4th industrial revolution. In this talk, I will explore the notion of AI as the 4th industrial revolution, discuss the challenges and opportunities that AI provides, speculate on where the field is headed, and suggest some of the important work needed in the field of informatics related to this. I will present some of the related work we are doing at the University of Calgary, with an emphasis on our work with electronic medical records.
On Wednesday 31 August at 12:00, Dr Williamson will join us at IHI in room 104, first floor of 222 Euston Road, London, NW1 2DA. Dr Williamson is the Director of Centre for Health Informatics, University of Calgary.
