New Paper: Benefits of COVID Vaccination 'Clearly Outweigh' the Risks for Teenagers
4 October 2021
IHI's Chris Tomlinson and Spiros Denaxas's team publish new paper 'Vaccinating adolescents against SARS-CoV-2 in England: a risk-benefit analysis'.
At COVID's current high case rate (as of 15 September 2021) of 680/100,000 population/week in 10-19-year-olds in England, researchers have found that the benefits associated with two doses of the Pfizer vaccine in terms of reducing hospital admissions outweigh the risks associated with the vaccine. Benefit of vaccination exists at any case rate for the outcomes of death and long COVID, since neither have been associated with vaccination to date.
