New study on need for integration of healthcare informatics into postgraduate medicine
2 April 2019
A new study has found that postgraduate medical education in the UK neglects healthcare (HI) competencies set out by international standards. Key HI competencies need to be urgently integrated into training curricula to prepare doctors for work in increasingly digitised healthcare environments.
This mixed methods study was led by a group from the Institute of Health Informatics. The group analysed the national training curricula for 71 postgraduate medical specialities obtained from the UK General Medical Council and consulted with seven UK HI experts.
