Partner Funds

A number of funding streams are available to support joint projects between UCL academics and those at UCL's key global partner institutions.

2023/24 funding calls will open between May and October 2023, dates TBC in mid-April. Further details and guidance will be added to this page soon.

Africa & Middle East

Awards of up to £3,500 to help UCL academics collaborate with HE institutions in sub-Saharan Africa to increase independent teaching capability/capacity in the region

UCL-Wits University Strategic Partner Funds (Research/Teaching Collaborative Activity)

Awards of up to £5,000 are available to support the development of research collaboration between UCL and Wits in all areas

Research/teaching proposals in areas of mutual interest and complementarity strengths that will strengthen the partnership between UCL and Wits

 

UCL-Wits University Strategic Partner Funds (Grant for Pump Priming Initiatives)

Awards of up to £20,000 are available to support pump priming initiatives between UCL and Wits in all areas

Any UCL activity with University of Witwatersrand to serve as a catalyst to enable UCL-Wits collaborators to apply for larger external funding

 

UCL-Wits-ARUA Partner Funds

Up to £20,000 is available to support a trilateral collaboration between UCL, Wits and one or more members of the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA)

Any UCL activity with University of Witwatersrand and one additional ARUA university

Each successful proposal will receive up to AUD 10,000 from each institution for a total award of up to AUD 20,000

UCL activity with University of Sydney that will address global challenges as well as develop multi-disciplinary research

 

North America

Each successful proposal will receive up to £10k for UCL academics and up to $15k for U of T academics in teams led by early career researchers for one year of funding

UCL-University of Toronto Strategic Partner Funds (Strategic Challenges Fund)

Each successful proposal will receive up to £40k for UCL academics and up to $60k for U of T academics over two years of funding

UCL-Cornell Global Strategic Collaboration Awards (GSCA)

Each successful proposal may receive up to the equivalent of $5,000/£4,000 from each university for a total of $10,000/£8,000
