UCL GBSH Healthcare Dragons' Den

The GBSH is hosting our inaugural Dragons' Den Competition. Got an innovative business idea that'll change the face of healthcare? Well we want to hear about it! Pitch your idea to our dragons below.

UCL GBSH Healthcare Dragons' Den is open to all postgraduate students from across the UK higher education sphere with innovative and novel business ideas to improve healthcare. These can be in any domain of the health eco-system, digital health, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, healthcare management, hospital management, patient safety, bioscience, public health and much more. You can be from the GBSH, from the wider UCL or from any university in the UK. As long as your a postgraduate student with an idea for the business health space - we want to hear from you!

How to apply:

  2. Each idea needs 2-5 members in the group. Once your student team is formed, you will enter via an application form to be submitted to GBSH. The deadline to submit the application form is Friday 12th May 2023, 12am (midnight).
  3. To submit the application form, please follow the relevant button below depending on if you are a UCL student or a non-UCL student.

The application process will be in four rounds as below:

First round: The top 15 ideas will be selected, and the groups will be notified by Wednesday 3rd May 2023.

Second round: The 15 groups will be given the opportunity for a 5-minute ‘quick pitch’ to a panel of judges from UCL GBSH which will take place online on Monday 15th May 2023, starting at 10am. The top 10 ideas will become the finalists.

Third round: The 10 finalists will be invited to attend three workshops lead by serial entrepreneurs in the healthcare space as follows:

  • Developing your business case (Friday 2nd June 2023)
  • Marketing your idea beyond the pitch (Friday 9th June 2023)
  • Critical knowledge of IP/legal issues to move your idea forward (Friday 16th June 2023)

Fourth round: After completing a pitching skills masterclass on the morning of the event, UCL GBSH will invite the 10 finalists to pitch live at the Dragons' Den event that will be held at UCL East on Wednesday 21st June at 5pm. Our Dragons will be from the investment world along with serial entrepreneurs in the health space and they will be keen to hear your ideas!

All 10 finalists will receive £250 to help start their businesses. The pitch that impresses the Dragons will win £500 and a year of free mentoring from experts.
