UCL Global Business School for Health announces Roche UK Scholar for 2023/24

24 October 2023

Elsy Aglaes Gomez Campos has been announced as this year's recipient of the fully-funded Roche UK MBA Health scholarship for the MBA Health 2023/2024 cohort - congratulations to Elsy.

Roche UK Scholarship winner Elsy

Offered through UCL GBSH’s cooperation with Roche UK, the Roche MBA Health scholarship enables a UK student from a low-income background, who either identifies as female and/or is from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) background, to enrol on the MBA Health programme.

As part of the scholarship, costs associated with the Global Health Challenge are also covered, including travel to a low or middle-income country for two weeks to work on solutions to a health problem. This aspect of the course provides practical experience for students outside of the on-campus setting.

The scholarship is designed to increase opportunity in underrepresented groups who have historically been less likely to apply to MBA programmes. In addition to covering tuition fees and the Global Health Challenge, an extra £20,000 is also provided for living expenses.

Elsy Aglaes Gomez Campos, said: “Prestigious courses are often out of reach for certain underrepresented healthcare workers in leadership positions. Therefore, tangible efforts and steadfast dedication are indispensable to transforming the landscape of healthcare leadership in the UK. This award is humbling and inspiring, strengthening my dedication to leadership and my determination to grow and have a lasting impact through meaningful contributions.”

Richard Erwin, General Manager, Roche UK said: “Many congratulations to Elsy Aglaes Gomez Campos, we hope this helps her in whatever career she chooses. The partnership with UCL reflects Roche UK’s commitment to support the development of the healthcare leaders of tomorrow and to provide further opportunities for underrepresented groups in the healthcare workforce.”

The MBA Health programme provides all the competencies and attributes of a traditional MBA, with a focus on the healthcare management sector. The programme introduces students to cutting-edge thinking from world-leading academics concerning global health economy, leadership, and management.
