Why did you choose to apply for the MSc Global Healthcare Management Analytics Route?

The Covid-19 epidemic played a significant role in my choice. I went into dentistry to serve those in need and to make healthcare more accessible to those without the privilege of high-quality health services. Once the pandemic started, it strengthened my resolve to be a part of the transformation of healthcare into data-driven digital healthcare. Change begins with changemakers and that is why I chose Global Healthcare Management (Analytics). I am gaining a lot of knowledge on how to advance in my career and learning how to become a strong leader. The skillsets provided by this course will equip me to act in the direction of my goals with confidence.

Is there a particular area of global healthcare management that you are interested in? If so, why?

I am looking forward to learning more about AI-driven healthcare. Being in the golden age of information technology, it is pragmatic to leverage it for our advantage to change the status quo of healthcare. We cannot become complacent with how things are, and the NHS system is making incredible progress in that direction, so I am excited about delving deep into this area through my program.

What value do you feel this programme will add to your career moving forward?

I come from a primarily clinical background and this programme is giving me access to everything that I need to understand data-driven healthcare and management all wrapped up in one! It is a unique program that truly addresses the needs of the healthcare systems from the industry perspective and not just academia.

What advice would you give to prospective students thinking about applying for the MSc Global Healthcare Management with routes?

This programme has a lot to offer, since it is a really specialised program, I would strongly recommend anyone to go for what really aligns with their purpose and interests. It is easy to get carried away on the bandwagon with the newest trend so I would advise students to start with their personal motivations and long-term goals.

Talk me through a typical day in the life as a GBSH student.

Everyone has distinct days, even on the same program! The program is quite interesting since it utilises the flipped learning approach which makes it a lot more application based than traditional learning and I absolutely love that because it really compels you to understand and think about things very thoroughly and analyze problems from a variety of perspectives. There are also a lot of team-working activities, so you get to collaborate with so many people to find innovative solutions to problems. One thing is for sure, you learn something new every day.

What have you enjoyed the most since starting at the UCL GBSH?

Meeting my cohort has been the most rewarding part of GBSH. I am grateful for being able to learn from and engage with such a diverse group of people. Every person you meet at the UCL Global Business School for Health adds a new dimension to the experience which makes it quite special.
