The Bloomsbury Environmental Isotope Facility (BEIF) is a shared facility between the Department of Geography and the Department of Earth Sciences and is housed in the basement of the Chemistry Building. Its focus is on traditional stable isotopes such as (δ18O, δ15N, δ13C and δ2D) generated from a large range of materials such as carbonates (sediments, foraminifera, coral & fish otoliths), bulk organic matter (insects, algae, amber) plants as well as samples from cave deposits, archaeological materials (bone, teeth, collagen &hair), rocks and water.
