This research presents the results of a petrographic study of the Canaanite pottery from Tell el Dab'a in the Nile Delta. The results indicate, that the vessels are imported first and foremost from the northern Levant, namely from the Lebanese and Syrian coastal area. The general trend that can be followed is a gradual shift from the dominance of northern Levantine imports (coastal Syrian and Lebanese) during the Middle Kingdom through the Second Intermediate Period, to a dominance of central and southern Palestinian wares towards the beginning of the New Kingdom.
