Image Aesthetics: From Philosophical to Computational Exploration
Seeking beauty in images has always preoccupied the human mind. Today, the amount of imagery available online, in museums or personal photo collections is incredibly vast and varied. By harnessing these data, together with insights from Philosophy, Art, Colour Theory, Psychology and Neurology, computer scientists are striving to explore the concept of beauty using algorithms and numbers. In this talk I will give an overview of the multidisciplinary knowledge on aesthetics and visual perception and show how Computer Science is contributing to further our understanding of these fields.
All welcome, and there will be drinks following the talk. Please note that registration is required.
