10 November 2019

Dr Inês Direito has been awarded £25,000 by the Royal Academy of Engineering to study ‘Brexit impact on UK’s engineering education sector: Exploring EU students and staff experiences’. The project is a partnership with the Engineering Professors’ Council that aims to explore and substantiate the current and anticipated impact of the Brexit decision on both European engineering students and staff currently studying and working in the UK. The project will expand data on European engineering students and staff in UK’s HEI and contribute to a better understanding of the motivations and limitations to study and work in the UK. Issues such as mobility, funding, skills development, future study and career prospects will be included. The outcomes of this project will be useful for the UK engineering education Higher Education Institutions, providing advice on recruitment and retention of European students and staff.
