Engage as a graduate

Did you study at UCL? You might like to consider sharing your knowledge and insights with our current students. We’d love to hear from you, whether you have a specific idea of how you’d like to engage with our audiences, or equally if you aren’t sure where to begin.

Events

We often seek out alumni to take part in our many careers events, to share your career journey and learning. We run events that are specific academic departments, to entire faculties and faculty clusters, or generally useful to a broad range of students from across the entire institution. These events often focus on specific sectors and industries, and alumni stories are a powerful way to connect with and inspire students who haven’t yet started their next steps.

Work-based learning

We also love to hear from alumni who may be able to arrange insight days and work shadowing experiences, for current students to get a taster of what different jobs and industries look like from the inside. You may even be in a position to arrange work experience and internship opportunities at your place of employment, which can enable valuable on-the-job experience.

Case studies

We frequently promote graduate case studies on our blog and social media, as well as in flagship publications such as our annual Careers Guide. We are always looking for new, current additions, from a wide variety of jobs– the niche as well as the well-known! This is a low time commitment activity with a long-term benefit, and we can support you with a bank of questions to structure your case study.

Meet with students one on one

UCL Coffee Connect brings together UCL alumni and current students from across the globe, randomly matching them with one another, and inviting them to organise a virtual coffee together.  There are no requirements regarding the topics discussed, some conversations are spent entirely on professional development matters, others are a relaxed chat with someone new. Coffee Connect gives you the opportunity to meet virtually, catch up and build connections with the UCL community. You can read stories from past participants and find out more here.

Become a mentor

One-to-one mentoring is one of the best ways a student can learn how to develop the transferable skills and global competencies which employers are increasingly looking for.

Our skills-based alumni mentoring programme connects students with experienced graduates to help them develop the competencies, values, and professional habits which will allow them to thrive in any career. The programme is delivered by UCL's Alumni Relations team in partnership with the Faculty of Laws, the Faculty of Engineering, The Bartlett and Careers Extra.
