Sector Insight Events

We run a programme of sector-themed events covering a variety of industry sectors which are popular with UCL students.

With a mix of panel discussions, presentations, and skills workshops, our sector insight events are an ideal opportunity for you to learn more about a particular sector. Hear from industry professionals, UCL alumni and Careers Consultants to develop your understanding of what you need to succeed in these areas of work.


Booking information

  • Registration opens two weeks before the event 
  • All events must be booked in advance through your myUCLCareers account.
  • To receive email alerts about upcoming events you should update your myUCLCareers 'email preferences' to register for 'Event update' emails.

Museums, Arts & Cultural Heritage: My Career in Museums, Arts & Cultural Heritage: Pathways Into the Sector, Wednesday 20 March, 1pm-2:30pm

Interested in a career in Museums, Arts or Cultural Heritage? Join us for an inspiring event where we explore the journeys of those working in the sector and discuss ways of building a career in it.  

Find out how alumni & professionals who now work in Museums, Arts and Cultural Heritage got to where they are now, and what their career journey looks like.  

Together we’ll discuss the steps they took along the way, the ups and downs of their experience, and their advice for those considering a career in the sector.

Together with professionals in the industry we will discuss:

- The story of their specific career paths
- Reflecting on their experience - what were the challenges, what helped them and what advice do they have?
- Practical information and advice – gaining experience, acquiring skills, networking and career development
- Q&A – where you can ask our panel your questions

International Development, Charities & NGOs: International Development Roles Information Panel, Thursday 21 March, 5:30pm-7pm

Getting your first graduate job in International Development can be challenging due to competition for roles and the limited number of graduate schemes available. However, finding out more about the sector and perseverance can lead to a diverse, fulfilling career. 

At this virtual panel event, you will hear from recent UCL graduates and experienced professionals working in the International Development sector about their career to date and gain top tips on how to get a foot in the door.

Each panellist will present their career journey, how they got into the International Development sector, their day-to-day in their current job, what attracted them to work in the sector, what skills have helped them to develop/progress in the field and will provide you with tips for getting into the sector, with current Jobs and paid internship opportunities. 

The panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A session.
