Balfour Lecture Award for Dr Lucy van Dorp

The Balfour Lecture, named after the Genetics Society’s first President, is an award to mark the contributions to genetics of an outstanding young investigator.
We would like to congratulate Dr Lucy van Dorp for being awarded the Balfour Lecture 2023 award from the Genetics Society for ‘contributions to genetics of an outstanding young investigator’.
The Balfour Lecture, named after the Genetics Society’s first President, is an award to mark the contributions to genetics of an outstanding young investigator. The Balfour Lecturer is elected by the Society’s Committee on the basis of nominations made by any individual member of the Society.
Lucy van Dorp is a UCL Excellence Fellow at the UCL Genetics Institute in the Department of Genetics, Evolution and Environment. Her research aims to contribute to the post-genomic revolution in biology and medicine through the application of computational tools to determine the factors giving rise to patterns of diversity in human-associated pathogens.
