Royal Docks event

Dr Saffron Woodcraft, lead for the Prosperity Co-Laboratory for the UK at the IGP, joined a panel of speakers at the launch by Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and Mayor of Newham Rokhsana Fiaz of the second five-year plan for the Royal Docks in east London. The plan includes extensive redevelopment in the area which will deliver up to 36,000 new homes and 55,000 new jobs across the area over the coming years.

Royal Docks is a partner of the London Prosperity Board, co-chaired by Professor Henrietta Moore and Dr Woodcraft, and is using the Prosperity in east London 2021-2031 Longitudinal Study to measure the long-term impacts of regeneration on local communities. This study is tracking the prosperity of over 4,000 households in 15 areas of east London including Beckton, North Woolwich, Silvertown, and Custom House in the Royal Docks, using a combination of the IGP’s pioneering Citizen Prosperity Index and qualitative research by citizen social scientists.
