The Current Archaeology Live! 2024 event, which the UCL Institute of Archaeology is co-organising, is being held at the UCL Institute of Education on Saturday 24 February 2023.
This one-day conference showcases all the latest archaeological discoveries and research from Britain and beyond.
The Keynote Speaker at this year's event is John Gater (Time Team/SUMO GeoSurveys) with a presentation entitled Behind the Scenes of Time Team: 30 years in the media limelight, while research presentations will be given by current staff including Kevin MacDonald (on Tumuli through time in Mali and Senegal) and Matthew Pope (on La Cotte de St Brelade and the Archaeology of its Last Neanderthals).
The winners of the 2024 Current Archaeology Awards will be announced on 24 February as part of the event. The awards, voted for entirely by the public, celebrate the projects and publications that made the pages of the magazine over the past 12 months, and the people judged to have made outstanding contributions to archaeology. Voting will close on 5 February.
