University Archaeology UK (UAUK) represents the departments of Archaeology in UK universities. Currently a total of 39 universities and colleges are members of UAUK representing the majority of institutions offering single or joint honours courses in archaeology. The organisation promotes archaeology as an established, recognised and relevant academic discipline within higher education while providing a means to respond to any consultations and proposals from government and other bodies.

UAUK is also the co-ordinating body for University Archaeology Day - originally created in 2017 by UCL archaeologists working with experts from 24 other universities, and now an annual event - for prospective students, teachers and parents to learn about the many degree programmes on offer across the UK, to discover the huge range of career opportunities that an archaeology degree can lead to, and to hear about some of the latest archaeological research.

Andrew Gardner will work with Vicki Cummings (University of Central Lancashire) as co-Chairs of UAUK for the next three years. According to Andrew:

UAUK has been increasingly active in co-ordinating activities across the discipline in recent years, both in responding to new challenges and positively promoting archaeology more widely. I am excited to work, alongside Vicki as co-Chair, on behalf of all of the members of UAUK in further strengthening our fantastic subject."
