Surgery and Interventional Science

Materials and Tissue

Advances in materials science have allowed us to enter a new phase in both our understanding and our use of implanted material. No longer are these materials inert substitutes. Increasingly the new materials interact with the body in a dynamic way.

The application of the modern principles of nanotechnology forms a central component of the research activity within the Research Department of Nanotechnology.

Tissue and energy

This Research Department brings together clinicians and scientists from a variety of backgrounds, who are working together to develop highly targeted novel imaging, sensing, management and energy based interventions to detect and cure disease.
