DSD: Pivot Tables in Excel - Workshop
Course Description:

Present data in summary form and for presentation, pivot tables might also help discover trends or patterns in your data.

Pivot tables can be used to analyse, summarize and present large amounts of data. Once a Pivot Table has been created it can be reorganized in various ways using features such as filtering, sorting, changing functions or displaying as a Pivot Chart.

In this introductory workshop you will create several pivot tables and experiment with many useful features using several data lists provided.

This is a 90-minute workshop delivered remotely.

PREREQUISITES:

Familiarity with the Excel interface is required, e.g. use of menus, copying and pasting in cells, and formatting text.

Once you have booked on the course you will be able to access all the online materials in our Digital Skills Development Moodle course.

IMPORTANT:

Objectives:
By the end of the session you will be able to:
  • Create and rearrange pivot tables,
  • Sort and filter,
  • Group values such as dates, exam scores,
  • Change formatting of number values,
  • Use the Summarise By and Show Values As functions,
  • Add pivot charts to a table,
  • Use Slicers to filter.

This workshop is aimed at those wishing to learn how to use Pivot Tables in Excel to manipulate and display their data.
