Patient and health professional communication

Studies that examine communication process and its effects on patients’ well-being or clinical outcomes.

Our research in health care communication includes conversation analytic studies examining the mechanisms of novel psychological interventions with women to understand and optimise effective delivery of the therapy for example, Managing Cancer and Living Meaningfully (CALM) therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). We also explore communications surrounding patient choice and informed decision-making. A recent strand looks at how patients and professionals experience the consent process in different women’s health contexts including cancer.
