Project title
Azithromycin and Melatonin as Neuroprotective Agents in the Inflammation-Sensitised Newborn Piglet Model of Neonatal Encephalopathy
Project description
Neonatal Encephalopathy is a leading cause of neonatal mortality and morbidity worldwide. There is a disproportionately higher burden in the low resource setting, where infection or inflammation are independent risk factors. As part of a preclinical translational pipeline, which aims to take the most promising neuroprotective therapies to clinical trials, the project aims to assess the safety and efficacy of melatonin in the inflammation-sensitised hypoxia-ischaemia piglet model.
