Clare Selden is Professor of Experimental Hepatology at UCL’s Royal Free hospital campus, in the Institute for Liver and Digestive Health. Her main research interests encompass harnessing liver cells for therapeutic gain. She has driven the development of HepatiCan, a bioartificial liver machine to treat patients with liver failure to a stage of clinical readiness. This cell therapy is now ready to perform a first in human trial for safety. She the following major research interests: 1. Using regenerative medicine in the development of a bio-artificial liver machine. 2. Development of putative therapies for inborn errors of metabolism affecting the liver 3. Use of growth factors in novel therapies for liver disease 4. Development of pathogen reduction technologies for extracorporeal use 5. Cryopreservation of three dimensional organoids as regenerative medicines | |
