Our clinical work is based at University College London Hospitals, the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and the Whittington hospital, and it encompasses urogynaecology incorporating mesh complications, chronic urinary tract infections, abdominal and pelvic pain, functional gastroenterology/Colo-rectal surgery, neuro-urogynaecology and neuromodulation.
The four sites of clinical work are outlined below.
Urogynaecology at UCLH
Urogynaecology at UCLH is based at the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Wing (EGA), which is based within the UCLH complex. The unit is run by four Urogynaecologists who work together to offer joint clinics and theatre lists with the benefits of their differing areas of specialist capability. They offer wide-spread expertise in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery.
This is also the training hub for the RCOG/HEE Training Programme in Urogynaecology:
- Sohier Elneil is the Training Programme Director
- Rajvinder Khasriya is the Deputy Training Programme Director
Urogynaecology at The Whittington Hospital
Urogynaecology at the Whittington Hospital is based on Magdala Avenue. The unit is run by two Urogynaecologists. The service is well known for its multi-disciplinary Urogynaecology service, and its Chronic Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS) service.
Neuro-urogynaecology at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery
This service is based in the Department of Uro-neurology at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, and the Pain Management Centre on Cleveland Street. There are five Consultants in the Uro-neurology department who come from multiple disciplines – urogynaecology, neurology, urology and gastro-enterology. They cover a diverse group of patients with neurological and non-neurological pelvic floor dysfunction.
Functional Gastroenterology/Colorectal Surgery at UCLH
This is a well-established department at UCLH and covers neuromodulation and neuro-gastroenterology research in women with complex bowel dysfunction. This includes postpartum anal sphincter trauma and dysfunction.
