The Aalim Bibi Prizes

Two annual student awards are made to UCL Year 3 medical students on the iBSc Women’s Health, one for the best overall performance and the other for the best independent research project.

These prizes were created in 2017 in memory of Aalim Bibi, who tragically lost her life during childbirth in Ferozepur, close to the present Indo-Pakistani border. In Arabic, the name Aalim means 'the woman who has knowledge', and the prizes were established by her grandson to create a lasting legacy for her. They reward excellent UCL Year 3 medical students, enrolled on the iBSc programme at the UCL EGA Institute for Women's Health, whose studies will lead to a deeper knowledge of women’s health in order to make a real difference in the future.
