Committee Structure and Minutes


Executive Committee
  • Meets monthly
  • Comprises all the Group Leaders
  • Chaired by the Director of the Institute 

The role of the Executive Committee is as an advisory body to the director on scientific and strategic matters of the Institute including the hiring of senior staff, the scientific direction and the allocation of central resources.

Division of Medicine Heath & Safety Committee

The role of the Management Committee is to advise the Director on all administrative matters of the Institute and for the Director to convey these to the Executive Committee. 

  • Meets three times per calender year
  • Comprises - Director of the Institute- Joint Heads of Administration- Buildings Manager- Specialist officers responsible for Genetic, Chemical, Biological, Laser & Radiation safety- Safety representative for each group in the Institute
  • Chaired by the Safety Advisor to the Institute, Roberta Perelli r.perelli@ucl.ac.uk

The role of the safety committee is to consider and discuss relevant Health, Safety and Welfare issues that have been brought to its attention by any of the committee members or UCL Safety Services. This includes reported accidents/incidents, internal audit reports and safety training. Minutes are distributed to all staff via email, and are placed on the Institutes intranet site and the safety representatives disseminate information to the other members of their group.

Safety committee meetings have been set for the following dates:

  • Thursday 28th September at 3.30pm Meeting Room 2, Wing 1.2 Cruciform Building

Wing Representatives Meeting
  • Meets quarterly
  • Comprises - Joint Heads of Administration- Buildings Manager- Specialist Managers / Officers responsible for - Purchasing; IT; Scientific Support Services; Safety; Laboratory Operations; Deliveries- Representatives from each wing within the Institute

The role of the committee is to exchange information on the operations of the building and the Institute.

Operations Meetings
  • Meets weekly
  • Comprises - Joint Heads of Administration- Buildings Manager- Specialist Managers / Officers responsible for - Purchasing; IT; Scientific Support Services; Safety; Laboratory Operations; Deliveries

The role of the committee is to exchange information on the operations of the building and the Institute, to ensure that building and laboratory services are functioning correctly. To advise the Management Committee of matters requiring attention.
